Overview
Since 1994, the Phelophepa “Train of Hope” has provided preventative health, dental and eye care for South Africa’s most impoverished, rural provinces. Each year, more than 40,000 patients are treated on the train’s 37-week route.

The AFPT Mission
The American Friends of the Phelophepa train is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity whose mission is to raise awareness and support in the U.S. for the Phelophepa health care train in South Africa.
AFPT engages American donors of all sizes through traditional and web-based media and events and pursues grants from American corporations and philanthropic foundations. The goal of the AFPT is provide consistent operational funding for the Phelophepa train through effective fundraising.
